The new Thor: Ragnarok trailer is out from Marvel Studios. The burning question is who’s your money on? Thor or the Incredible Hulk? And more importantly, how badly do you want to watch the mighty Thor take on the Hulk – gladiator style! Hulk actually has some speaking scenes in Thor: Ragnarok. Am I the only one to find that unusual since he really hasn’t spoken in the previous appearances.
The trailer (as seen below) looks a bit darker from the previous movies, if you can imagine that. There just seems to be more destruction. One scene piques my interest where Thor is lit up, like if he has a special power that we haven’t seen before. What do you think that’s about?
In Marvel Studios’ THOR: RAGNAROK, Thor is imprisoned on the other side of the universe without his mighty hammer and finds himself in a race against time to get back to Asgard to stop Ragnarok—the destruction of his homeworld and the end of Asgardian civilization—at the hands of an all-powerful new threat, the ruthless Hela. But first he must survive a deadly gladiatorial contest that pits him against his former ally and fellow Avenger—the Incredible Hulk! THOR: RAGNAROK is directed by Taika Waititi and returns Chris Hemsworth starring as Thor and Tom Hiddleston reprising his role as Loki. Joining the cast is Cate Blanchett, Academy Award winner, Idris Elba, Jeff Goldblum, Tessa Thompson and Karl Urban, with Mark Ruffalo and Anthony Hopkins.
…and as always, don’t be *that guy* that leaves when the movie is over. There is always mid/post credit scenes that half of the audience misses.
Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast” is a live-action re-telling of the studio’s animated classic which refashions the classic characters from the tale as old as time for a contemporary audience, staying true to the original music while updating the score with several new songs. “Beauty and the Beast” is the fantastic journey of Belle, a bright, beautiful and independent young woman who is taken prisoner by a beast in his castle. Despite her fears, she befriends the castle’s enchanted staff and learns to look beyond the Beast’s hideous exterior and realize the kind heart and soul of the true Prince within. The film stars: Emma Watson as Belle; Dan Stevens as the Beast; Luke Evans as Gaston, the handsome, but shallow villager who woos Belle; Oscar® winner Kevin Kline as Maurice, Belle’s eccentric, but lovable father; Josh Gad as Lefou, Gaston’s long-suffering aide-de-camp; Golden Globe® nominee Ewan McGregor as Lumiere, the candelabra; Oscar nominee Stanley Tucci as Maestro Cadenza, the harpsichord; Gugu Mbatha-Raw as Plumette, the feather duster; six-time Tony Award® winner Audra McDonald as Madame Garderobe, the wardrobe; Oscar nominee Ian McKellen as Cogsworth, the mantel clock; and two-time Academy Award® winner Emma Thompson as the teapot, Mrs. Potts.
Directed by Oscar® winner Bill Condon and based on the 1991 animated film, the film is produced by Mandeville Films’ David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman with eight-time Oscar-winning composer Alan Menken, who won two Academy Awards® (Best Original Score and Best Song) for the 1991 animated film, providing the score, which will include new recordings of the original songs written by Menken and Howard Ashman, as well as several new songs written by Menken and three-time Oscar winner Tim Rice. “Beauty and the Beast” will be released in U.S. theaters on March 17, 2017.
As part of Disney SMMC, I got to see the first eight minutes of the film a few months before it came out. Judging by that preview, I knew the film was going to be spectacular. Watching the full feature, it took me back to my childhood with the storyline and the music. The difference being that the 2017 Beauty and the Beast is full of stunning imagery. The characters are superb! The only one that had me a bit perplexed as Kevin Kline because it seemed like he played…well, himself lol.
Regardless, Disney’s latest Beauty and the Beast is a must-see (at least once but maybe more). In honor of the release of the movie, LatwinoDad is giving away a Beauty and the Beast bag filled with swag.

Rivers of Light is finally here and the long wait is so worth it! The night show that debuted February 17, 2017 marked an exciting time at Walt Disney Resort’s Animal Kingdom, especially since the original launch was slated for April 2016. As an attendee of the Disney Social Media Moms Celebration, I was one of first to view the light spectacular (and more importantly share it with you!).
The nighttime show is an dazzling experience complete with music, incredible special effects and animal folklore. Rivers of Light stays true to the park it inhabits. The animal theme can’t be mistaken as the illumination takes the shapes of the Tiger, Turtle, Elephant and Owl.
What to Expect?
The show’s duration is just over 15 minutes. There is narration at the beginning with characters choreographing aboard boats but the real stars are the animals that come to life in the water luminescence. You are guided through the jungle of Asia, African savannahs and mountains of the Americas’.
As you can see from the image below, the amphitheater is not so big that you really need to jockey for an incredible seat. With the venue being a bit smaller, any vantage point is a good one. If you’re still picky and absolutely want to ensure the best view, aim for center just like you would at a movie theater. I would not sweat this too much, though.
Before you arrive, I recommend you check the My Disney Experience mobile app, or visit the park schedule, for showtimes. Rivers of Light displays on select nights, so be sure to pick up the Times Guide in the park for the most up-to-date schedule.
